World Freerun Championships

Barclaycard World Freerun Championships Highlights Video
Trafalgar Square, London
  • This venture began through AOB’s business management of Urban Freeflow (UF), then the most well-established freerunning/parkour organisation worldwide.
  • Work included procuring and negotiation of sponsorship deals, TV deals, event engagements, advertising engagements, endorsement deals, brand licensing, photography agreements, advice on licensing characters for games and trademark advice.
  • In order to bring the sport/lifestyle to a wider audience, AOB and UF conceived and staged the first ever World Freerun Championships at London’s iconic Roundhouse.
  • AOB organised, co-promoted and secured sponsorship funding for each World Championship (Barclaycard/adidas/Sony Ericsson/EA Games) and procured TV productions of the events (Sky Sports/North One TV).
  • The last Barclaycard-sponsored WFC event took place in London’s Trafalgar Square and was broadcast ‘live’ at prime-time on BBC TV with Capital Radio’s breakfast DJ Dave Berry as the event host and BBC presenter Reggie Yates as the TV host. A six part series was also broadcast through the E! Network in the USA – click here for the highlights video:
  • AOB’s role included securing an international distribution deal with All3Media; securing the venue and licensing it (including liaising with the Mayor’s office, local council and support services); contracting and overseeing live event production companies; creating the Championship format, selecting athletes globally and contracting them;  procuring, manufacturing and selling merchandise; procuring food and drink concessions at the event; engaging marketing and PR agencies, coordinating press and TV coverage; overseeing all interests and stakeholders.
