business?
JONATHAN DEMBO
Jonathan Dembo is a founding director of All Our Business Ltd (AOB). Through AOB's activities in event production, Jonathan also became a founding director of World Freerun Ents, the company which stages the live and multimedia World Freerun Championships in an iconic city location. This experience has in turn led to Jonathan’s seat on the Advisory Board of Europe’s largest street event, London’s annual Notting Hill Carnival.
Jonathan qualified as a solicitor with celebrated media firm, Mishcon de Reya, where he specialised in film and television. He then made the transition into the music business, spending a decade immersed in label business affairs at three of the industry's major companies – initially Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), then Sony Music and finally, Warner Music where he was Senior Director of Business Affairs, overseeing all aspects of the label's contractual dealings with its artistes.
Since co-founding AOB in 2003, Jonathan has developed the company's activities across various, converging media, as well as dealing in sport, fashion and branding, alongside his more 'traditional' legal work in music and entertainment. His client portfolio ranges from a chart-topping, platinum-selling band to a chocolatier, to the pre-eminent parkour (or freerunning) organisation. Jonathan has also co-produced theatrical comedy performances in collaboration with ISI Inc, through regional tours (The Improvisers featuring Paul Merton, Phil Jupitus et al) and in London's West End (musician-comedian Bill Bailey and Lenny Henry directed by Complicite's Simon McBurney).
the long-running, Radio 4 panel-game show "Just-a-Minute" to BBC Television. Ten
episodes of the show have been specially recorded for TV broadcast by the BBC in
early 2012 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the radio show - with multi-platform,
international exploitation to follow.
AOB client, Young Voices, stages the largest school choir concerts in the UK and is
now in its 15th anniversary year of concert tours, with dates at Manchester’s MEN
Arena (January) and four sold-out nights at London’s O2 Arena (March), featuring
mass choirs of up to 8,000 children.
Due to the economic turmoil and civil unrest in Greece, AOB was obliged to
abandon its advanced plans to co-promote and stage in Athens the 2011 World
Freerun Championships, in association with two multinational brand partners. Plans
for London 2012 will be announced as soon as finalised.
AOB is proud to be represented by one of its directors as a principal producer of the
new musical drama, "I DREAM" based on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The
show enjoyed its World Premiere and a successful, independent run in Atlanta,
Georgia, USA, was recognised as the "2010 Outstanding World Premiere of a Play
or Musical" at Atlanta's annual, theatrical Suzi Bass Awards and has been in further
development for its next run in a major US city. Watch this space for forthcoming
productions and other ventures in 2012...
